What Is God Calling You To Do?

In the Bible, when God called Moses, he was full of questions. He asked: Why me? Who's calling me? Why these people? Why here, now, in this place? After some initial resistance, Moses led the Hebrews out of captivity toward the Promised Land.

When we hear God’s call, we go through a similar process. We ask questions: Why me? Who's calling me? What am I called to do? What’s my community called to do? What are we called to do now? Like Moses, we experience resistance, and we have the opportunity to take action that makes a difference in people's lives.

Ask yourself,

  • How could my church be different if I choose to take action?
  • What could happen if I don't?
  • What would be possible...for me, for people in my congregation, for my denomination...
    • if I talked to my pastor about my commitment to a fully inclusive church?
    • if I preached a sermon where I talked about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) families?
    • if my church became a Reconciling Congregation?
    • if I were to take some action that would move toward full inclusion of LGBT people in the church
