Opposition to Homophobia and Heterosexism

The 2008 General Conference passed a resolution opposing homophobia and heterosexism. In this resolution, the church commits to opposing all forms of violence or discrimination based on gender, gender identity, sexual practice, or sexual orientation. This resolution also tasked the General Board of Church and Society to provide resources to help church members understand these issues and be strengthened to witness against marginalization based on sexual orientation or sexual identity.

The Board of Church and Society developed this Web site in response to the resolution. Click here to read stories of United Methodist young adults affected by heterosexism and homophobia.
